English Estates: GBD Pedigree Bulldog (269) (pre-1980) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-20645
GBD, its name deriving from those of its three founders Ganneval, Bondier, and Donninger, originally began life in Paris in 1850. In later years, the company would be sold to A. Oppenheimer & Co. in London in 1902, where it would become an English marque. This "269" Bulldog by GBD presents classic, well-measured proportions within a robust build. The bowl stands tall and upright, its smooth walls flaring gradually from the firm heel toward a pair of crisp beadlines, where they then taper toward the chamfered rim. A sturdy diamond shank transitions from the bowl and meets a sleek saddle stem of jet-black vulcanite. Dressing the stummel is a smoky chestnut stain that reveals fine vertical grain around the bowl.
