English Estates: Dunhill Chestnut (5114) (2008) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-37575
Rendered in muscular Group 5 proportions, this "14" bent Dublin from Dunhill strikes a sleek, sinuous profile. It features a tall bowl posed at the fore with an upright posture, with steadily flaring walls rising from the rounded heel toward the flat rim. A high-kicking shank-and-stem pair to the bowl out back, the arrangement lending the composition a touch of dynamism and poised for a comfortable jaw hanging. The stummel displays handsome grain beneath the dark, rich stain of Dunhill's Chestnut finish, which is handsomely complemented by the stem's warm cumberland.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.
