English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (61033) (1977) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-38032
This vintage "03" Billiard by Dunhill was crafted in 1977 and is rendered in Group 6 sizing, making it a robust and muscular rendition of the shape-chart standard. Despite the pipe's larger proportions, the fore and aft remain balanced with the shank-and-stem providing ample length out back while the elevated bowl showcases the pipe's height. A firm heel gives way to the towering walls of the bowl as they grow toward a flat rim that looks into a capacious chamber, ready to be filled with your favorite tobacco. Out back, the rounded shank protrudes out of the transition before meeting a gradually tapering stem made of jet-black vulcanite. The inky mouthpiece pairs nicely with the Root Briar finish across the stummel, displaying rich cross grain and birdseye throughout.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
