English Estates: The Golden Arrow Smooth Bulldog (4) (by Comoy's) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-38029
Originating in a small factory in Saint-Claude, France, Comoy's is presumed to have started in clay, boxwood, and beech pipes. In 1879, Henri Comoy brought the business to London and is considered one of the prime movers in the establishment of the briar pipe trade. This "4" Bulldog from Comoy's is a shape chart standard and provides a satisfying feel both in the hand and between the teeth. The signature diamond shape of the Bulldog is on full display along the shank and base of the saddle stem, where straight panels form the conventional silhouette. Up front, the walls of the bowl rise to the shape's trademark beadlines before tapering inward to the flat rim. The chestnut stain dressing the stummel is an ideal companion for the black vulcanite mouthpiece out back, giving this pipe a sophisticated aesthetic.
