English Estates: GBD Silhouette Apple (9447) (pre-1980) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-38059

In 1850, pipe makers Ganneval, Bondier, and Donniger established a firm in Paris and the brand GBD, a combination of each initial, was born. Earlier than most, GBD recognized the unique advantages of making briar pipes. During its first 40 years, GBD was awarded over 15 medals of achievement for their pipes worldwide; accomplishments that aided in spreading the brand to international recognition.

Crafted before 1980, this Apple from GBD follows Anglo-French traditionalism and boasts the shape's characteristic features. The full-bodied bowl rises from a rounded heel, its chamber notably deep, making this piece perfect for longer smoking sessions. Out back, a thick, straight shank marries a saddle stem of black vulcanite. Dressing this piece is a chestnut stain that highlights beautiful cross grain along the fore of the bowl.
