English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere with Silver Army Mount (3103) (2001) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-37717
In Group 3 size, Dunhill's "03" straight Billiard is perhaps at its most quintessential, perfectly personifying the classic form and representing the archetype to which many other makers look for inspiration and shaping standards. A sterling silver army mount adorns the shank end, allowing this pipe to be taken apart easily for easier storage or a deep cleaning when the time arises. It also provides some brilliant contrast against the dark stain of the Bruyere smooth finish and further accentuates this piece's traditional appeal.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
