English Estates: Comoy's Old Bruyere Poker (c.1920s) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-37833
Originating in a small factory in Saint-Claude, France, Comoy's is presumed to have started in clay, boxwood, and beech pipes. In 1879 Henri Comoy brought the business to London and is considered one of the prime movers in the establishment of the briar pipe trade. This vintage Poker is dated to the 1920s and is an incredibly lightweight rendition of the classic shape. While not a Sitter, this pipe does possess a flat heel from which the walls of the bowl rise with a slight cant. The rim looks into a reserved tobacco chamber, ideal for short and satisfying smoking sessions. Out back, the slim shank-and-stem combination begins its gradual taper to the button. The dark hues dressing this piece give the pipe an air of mystery and its compact nature makes it perfect to take on the go.
