English Estates: Dulcet Smooth Cavalier (Extra) (204) (by Comoy's) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-37966
Legendarily one of the oldest marques that still operates today, Comoy's was founded by Francois Comoy in 1825 in the small town of Saint-Claude, France. In the beginning, Francois was limited to using boxwood and clay to craft pipes until his son, Louis, discovered the smoking benefits of briar. In 1879, the Comoys expanded into London, introducing high-quality, briar pipes to English smokers; a decision that brought Comoy's to international recognition. Comoy's remained a family name until it was bought by Cadogan Investments in the early 1980s.
This "204" Cavalier from Comoy's displays a forward-canted, Brandy-like bowl that is affixed to a vertically oriented shank-and-stem combination. Traditional to the form, the base of the shank features a removable foot that enables the draining of excess moisture. The deeply bent stem of black vulcanite ensures a comfortable smoking posture, and its color is matched by the removable foot. Dressing this piece is a chestnut stain that highlights vertical grain throughout the stummel.
