English Estates: BBB Umbria Smooth Billiard (P 1924) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-37981
In Modernity, some may recall buying t-shirts, hoodies, or rings to symbolize the passage of their college days, but in the early 1900s, it was tradition to display this class pride on the face of a pipe. BBB was one of the first marques to produce these pipes for students. Today BBB stands for "Britain's Best Briars," though when it was founded in 1860 it was known as "Bloomfield's Best Briars." The company produced the first pipe to have a registered trademark and is still one of the oldest brands still in production today. Dated 1924, this Billiard is an archetypal example of the classic shape and features a silver "19 P 24" accent along the bowl, displaying the previous owner's school spirit.
