English Estates: Charatan's Make Special Billiard (1180DC) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-37923

Founded by Fredrick Charatan in 1863, the Charatan brand is most famously known as the first company to entirely hand-make briar pipes from the block to the finished product. The term "Charatan's Make" refers to the method of assembly that differentiated Charatan pipes from the rest of the world. Many Charatan pipes go against the grain when it comes to traditional English pipe archetypes, offering more dynamic designs than you'll find in other classic shape charts.

Keeping with the traditional shape, this "1180DC" Billiard from Charatan is a lightweight option that still contains plenty of chamber room for hearty smoking sessions. Sitting pert on a firm heel, the bowl grows toward a flat rim that dips into the deep chamber. Out back, a columnar shank joins Charatan's Double Comfort saddle stem, which slims after the shoulders, then again near the bit. The inky vulcanite stem and rich mahogany stain along the stummel work together to give the pipe an air of elegance and timeless beauty.
