English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (421) (1977) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-38274
Dated to 1977, this vintage "421" Apple from Dunhill is a sleek and balanced rendition of the traditional shape. Laying somewhere between Group 2 and Group 3 sizing, this piece is a portable option that still provides ample heft at its fore. Ideal for short, satisfying smokes, the bowl houses a compact chamber and is formed by walls that curve up to a flat rim. The silhouette remains balanced as the stout, rounded bowl marries a concise shank and saddle stem of black vulcanite. Dunhill's iconic Root Briar finish dresses the stummel and highlights gorgeous cross grain and birdseye across the bowl's surface.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
