English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar Patent (60) (4) (R) (1951) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-38520
This 1951 "60" Billiard from Dunhill is a fine exemplar of both the quality and history the English marque represents. Stamped with an "R," this pipe wears the marque's iconic Root Briar finish, here in such a vintage that the pipe is stamped with patent numbers. Handsome patterns throughout the pipe's stummel are illuminated by the warm stain and smooth finish covering the briar, with swirls of birdseye through the flanks of the bowl. A balanced and handy pipe of Group 4 dimensions, this piece is a pure classic, sure to elevate the collection of anyone who favors timeless English pipes.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipe smokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.
