English Estates: Dunhill Bruyere (ODA) (840) (F/T) (1985) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-38464
Dunhill's "ODA" pipes are some of the largest designs within the English marque's portfolio, even when compared to their Group 6-sized pieces. That remains true for this vintage "840" bent Billiard, which sees a tall, muscular bowl set to a high-reaching shank-and-stem arrangement. Sturdy and filling in hand, this piece boasts quite the capacious chamber, ensuring plenty of long, leisurely smoking sessions. Additionally, the shape's robust dimensions offer ample space to showcase the stummel's gorgeous grain, which is highlighted by the fetching Root Briar smooth finish.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
