English Estates: Charatan's Make Selected Walrus (Extra Large) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-38498

Founded by Fredrick Charatan in 1863, the Charatan brand is most famously known as the first company to entirely hand-make briar pipes from the block to the finished product. The term "Charatan's Make" refers to the method of assembly that differentiated Charatan pipes from the rest of the world. Many Charatan pipes go against the grain when it comes to traditional English pipe archetypes, offering more dynamic designs than you'll find in other classic shape charts.

A rarer shape from the marque, this Walrus from Charatan is a collectable piece for fans of the brand. The Walrus shape is a creation from Danish artisan Sven Knudsen, and this rendition features a lifting Egg bowl with a sloping, plateau-crowned rim supported by two splayed feet along its underside, mimicking the stance of the Arctic marine mammal. Out back, diamond paneling forms along the shank and shoulders of the Double Comfort saddle stem, adding an element of structure to the piece. The inky vulcanite pairs well to the smooth chestnut-stained stummel, highlighting impressive flame grain throughout.
