English Estates: Charatan's Make Special (2502DC) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-35844

Founded by Fredrick Charatan in 1863, the Charatan brand is most famously known as the first company to entirely hand-make briar pipes from the block to the finished product. The term "Charatan's Make" refers to the method of assembly that differentiated Charatan pipes from the rest of the world. Many Charatan pipes go against the grain when it comes to traditional English pipe archetypes, offering more dynamic designs than you'll find in other classic shape charts.

Boasting elements of both the Apple and Prince designs, this pipe from Charatan retains the classic aesthetic of English design. The bowl displays a broad, plump base, with the sides gently tapering toward the flat rim. It's poised to a rounded shank and topped by one of the marque's signature Double Comfort saddle stems, the elegant stretch and subsequent downturn again bringing the Prince shape to mind. Dressed in a glossy hazelnut stain, the stummel is finished smooth to highlight impressive cross grain throughout.
