English Estates: James Upshall Partially Sandblasted Dublin (6FH) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-38613

James Upshall has crafted handmade, high-quality pipes in England for royalty, lords, celebrities, and general enthusiast alike. Both Barry Jones and Kenneth Barnes left Charatan to start their own workshop in 1978, naming their brand after Kenneth's ancestor James Archelous Upshall — an avid pipe smoker who had a keen eye for quality and perfection, characteristics that still carry through in Upshall craftsmanship. Barry Jones' skill is nothing short of impressive: From the ripe age of 15, he trained under the wing of Mr. Charatan and developed an intuition for spotting high-quality briar.

Every James Upshall pipe is made by a single flat bed lathe and the craftsman's artistic skill, and the workshop guarantees that all of their pipes are free of fills. Upshall has always maintained the same quality and tradition they have held since day one.

Specializing in hand-turned, straight-grain pipes, James Upshall grades their pipes on an ascending scale: B, G, E, X and XX, with the latter being the marque's highest and rarest designation. Today, Upshall is still run by Barry Jones after Ken Barnes' passing in 2021, continuing the workshop's legacy for quality, style, and distinction.
