English Estates: Comoy's Christmas 1985 Smooth Bent Brandy (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-38869
Legendarily one of the oldest marques that still operates today, Comoy's was founded by Francois Comoy in 1825 in the small town of Saint-Claude, France. In the beginning, Francois was limited to using boxwood and clay to craft pipes until his son, Louis, discovered the smoking benefits of briar. In 1879, the Comoys expanded into London, introducing high-quality, briar pipes to English smokers; a decision that brought Comoy's to international recognition. Comoy's remained a family name until it was bought by Cadogan Investments in the early 1980s.
Crafted during Christmas of 1985, this bent Brandy from Comoy's holds a soft curvature through its sleek design. From a rounded heel, the walls of the bowl taper into a flat rim, creating the classic profile that resembles this piece's namesake. The transition is wide and leads into a short, sharply lifted, ovoid shank that meets a half-saddle stem with a concave accent at its base. The shank and stem base complete this pipe's subdued S-curve in silhouette, poising it for comfortable smoking. Dressing this piece is a chestnut stain that highlights handsome grain throughout the stummel.
