English Estates: Comoy's Christmas 1991 Smooth Acorn (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-002-38870

Originating in a small factory in Saint-Claude, France, Comoy's is presumed to have started in clay, boxwood, and beech pipes. In 1879 Henri Comoy brought the business to London and is considered one of the prime movers in the establishment of the briar pipe trade. One of Comoy's 1991 Christmas pipes, this Acorn is a classic interpretation of the shape-chart standard. The bowl's pointed heel coupled with the high-kicking aft give this pipe a checkmark-like silhouette, perfect for jaw-hanging. Up front, the walls of the bowl rise from the aforementioned heel to a high-set waist before tapering back inward to the rim. The shank-and-stem arrangement gradually bends to the bit, with the sleek mouthpiece pairing well to the mahogany-stained smooth stummel, highlighting dense patches of birdseye, especially on the left flank.
