English Estates: Charring Cross Smooth Apple (334) (by Comoy's) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-39038
One of the oldest marques that still operates today, Comoy's was founded by Francois Comoy in 1825 in the small town of Saint-Claude, France. In the beginning, Francois was limited to using boxwood and clay to craft pipes until his son, Louis, discovered the smoking benefits of briar. In 1879, the Comoys expanded into London, introducing high-quality, briar pipes to English smokers; a decision that brought Comoy's to international recognition. Comoy's remained a family name until it was bought by Cadogan Investments in the early 1980s.
This "334" Apple is a muscular rendition of the classic form, with a plump, softly rounded bowl paired to a thick shank and a tapered stem of jet-black vulcanite. Boasting a flat, sure-sitting heel and plenty of chamber capacity, this piece is dressed in a chestnut-hued smooth finish that highlights lovely grain on either flank of the bowl.
