English Estates: Willmer Belfairs Smooth Brandy (5012) Tobacco Pipe

Though the Willmer factory closed its doors in the mid-2000s, the family-owned marque had been hand-making pipes for over 60 years prior to their shuttering. This Brandy is a bowl-forward take on the shape that presents with hearty walls at the fore, all sat atop a rounded and muscular heel. These walls expand to a low-set waistline, and from here they take on a subtle, arcing taper to the rim that makes for a softly curvaceous feel in hand. Out back, a wide transition gives way to a tapering shank and stem combination, while a silvery accent band highlights the junction. Dressed in a warm, light stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain, with a broad array of birdseye on the right flank.
