English Estates: Askwith Sandblasted Morta Prince with Silver Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-002-39367
This striking Prince from Askwith is made of morta, or semi-petrified bog oak. Morta has a high level of heat resistance and a distinct grain pattern, the latter of which is brought out by sandblasting, especially. The grain on this offering is particularly interesting, with a bullseye-like formation found front and center on the bowl.
Joining the bowl is a short shank whose subtle, silver-accented shoulders at the junction resemble an army mount. However, this offering actually possesses a standard mortise-tenon arrangement. Paired to the stummel is an elegantly-flared stem of cumberland. The undulating waves of the brindled stem complement the concentric rings of grain found at the fore of the bowl.
