About This Pipe
In 1825, François Comoy founded a pipe factory in the village of Avignon, near the now-legendary French pipe-making haven of Saint-Claude. Though Comoy pipe makers wouldn't begin using briar for a few decades, the company was the first to do so. François' grandson, Henri, moved to London as a young man and helped popularize briar pipes in the United Kingdom and would later form a partnership with the Chapuis family in the early 20th century to form Chapuis-Comoy.
This Cherrywood from Comoy's 2002 Christmas collection features a mix of beautiful cross grain and birdseye beneath a smooth finish that gives the stummel a rich, deep red coloring. A silver accent caps the brief shank, adding a touch of elegance to this straightforward Anglo-French shape. The walls of the bowl are especially muscular and easily accommodating to long smoking sessions.
