French Estates: Courrieu Straight Grain Grand Luxe Bulldog

Product Number: 004-003-4555

Ulysse Courrieu founded the Courrieu brand in 1802 in Cogolin, France, and the marque is still fashioning briar pipes. Here, the French maker presents a classically shaped Bulldog, the ridgelines of the shank echoed in the bowl's beadlines and the overall proportions consistent and well balanced. It also showcases some lovely tendrils of grain along the lower bowl, undeniably deserving of its "Straight Grain" stamp. There's some rim darkening, charring around the airway, and over buffing to the stem, but condition is still good.
