French Estates: Jeantet Crystal Mat Bent Billiard (44) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-003-6294

With a history dating back to 1775, Jeantet is among the oldest names in commercial-scale pipe making, beginning at least as early as 1807 with its production of shanks for porcelain and cherrywood pipes. In 1858, Jeantet began making briar pipes of their own, growing steadily over the next century to become one of the largest pipe factories in France. In 1988, Jeantet merged with Chacom, Lacroix, and Vuillard to form the Cuty Fort Group that continues making pipes today. This deeply-bent Billiard from the marque promotes an easy jaw-hanging stance thanks to its impressive curvature through both the shank and stem, which compositionally balances the plump, pert bowl at the fore. Said bowl tapers nicely from the low-set waist to the rim, and the stummel here has been dressed in a warm auburn stain that showcases some handsome grain.
