French Estates: Deauville Leather Wrapped Opera (109) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-003-6373
During World War 2, when briar was in short supply, pipe makers were forced to utilize any block of burl they could, and in order to stretch their limited stock, they began wrapping their pipes in leather. These leather-wrapped pipes became popular, and a new, distinctive style was born. This Opera from Deuville keeps that old-school tradition alive, offering the reserved, pocketable shape in a dress of crimson-hued leather. As is standard for the form, the bowl here boasts pinched flanks that keep the shape understated and ergonomic, both in hand and profile.
