French Estates: EWA Smooth Aunis Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-003-8006

Although EWA was established as a standalone brand in the 1970s by Michel Waille, the French marque traces its roots to the 1860s, when Michel's great-grandfather, Horace, began carving pipes. A fixture of St. Claude pipe-making, EWA specializes in the production of horn, acrylic, lucite, and cumberland stems, pairing them to pipes that range from classic to avant-garde. This Volcano by EWA features a stocky bowl that stands atop a broad, ridgeline-wrapped heel and tapers upward to a taut rim. Said bowl is paired to an upturned shank and a demurely curved tapered stem, the latter of which promotes a comfortable smoking posture. Dressing this piece is a warm smooth finish that highlights healthy grain across the briar's surface.
