French Estates: Ropp Vintage Sandblasted (418B) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-003-8023

The "418B" Bulldog from Ropp is similar in profile to their "420" shape, being rather squat of bowl and stocky of shank and transition. While the "418B" presents the same diamond shank as the traditional "420," the bowl here is defined by crisp panels, the bottom lines of which are curved to inform a scalloped ridgeline around the waist. Said facets combine well with the hard lines of the shank for an architectural style that contrasts against the rounded lower bowl. The aesthetic fits in well alongside the French marque's paneled designs while still exuding a classic sense of proportions.

Sourced from old stummels found at the Chapuis-Comoy factory, Ropp's Vintage line presents old-school, classic designs that were turned decades ago but never finished. This piece is dressed in a dark-stained sandblast and fitted with a stem of genuine horn, hearkening back to the style of mouthpieces from the early 1900s. It accentuates the vintage motif, making for a thoroughly retro aesthetic.
