French Estates: Vincent Carved Goddess of Wine (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-003-8051
Roger Vincent is a French pipe artisan and one of the few who specializes in carving figural pieces, such as this Freehand. While figurals are often seen crafted from meerschaum, Vincent prefers to display his carving style through briar, as displayed in his rendering of the Goddess of Wine. A massive interpretation of the goddess, this pipe weighs half a pound and houses a tobacco chamber over two and a half inches deep, ensuring plenty of time for lengthy smoking sessions. The underside of the bowl is flattened, with a heel jutting out where her chest would begin. The fore of the bowl displays her stunning face, framed by curls and vines of grapes and topped with a crown of leaves. The crown opens up as a softly rounded rim sits atop her head, looking into the deep chamber. Her hair falls down past the transition and gives way to a sturdy, rounded shank that begins the aft's bend as it connects to a metallic accent at its base. Looking past the junction, a bent, tapering stem made of horn brings up the rear, its black and white hues pairing well to the hazelnut-stained stummel.
