French Estates: Butz-Choquin Manoir (1793) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-003-8429
Beginning his career as a tobacconist, Jean-Baptiste Choquin created his first pipe alongside his workman-turned-son-in-law, Gustave Butz. In 1858, the two created the Choquin pipe — a bent pipe with a flat-bottomed bowl finished with an albatross-bone mouthpiece. In the 1950s, Berrod-Regad bought the Choquin trademark, moving production from Metz to Saint-Claude, France, and continuing manufacture until 2002. The marque was then sold to Fabien Guichon, who ran the company until its closure in 2019.
Originally, Butz-Choquin only produced around ten series, eventually expanding to 70. The brand is known for crafting designs that pay homage to shape-chart standards and maintain classic Anglo-French silhouettes. For those seeking the traditional within their pipe-smoking experience, Butz-Choquin is an ideal option for new and veteran smokers alike.
