German Estates: Rainer Barbi Sandblasted Tomato (2010) (Unsmoked)

Product Number: 004-005-4051

Rainer Barbi, who passed in the spring of 2011, was considered the great master of German pipemaking, and I can't help but wonder if this has something to do with why such an unusually large fraction of estates we see bearing his name come to us still unsmoked. A lot of fellows out there, it would seem, acquired his work just to look at it - and I can't say I entirely blame them. This bent Tomato, for example, possesses a whole lot of substance, and yet, from tip to tip there's nothing stolid, nothing that's anything but gentle and easy, graceful and supple about it.
