German Estates: Jurgen Moritz Partially Sandblasted Blowfish (2011)
Product Number: 004-005-4130
Jurgen Moritz knows what makes a pipe great, from both an aesthetic and engineering standpoint. He spent time working for a well-known pipe shop and during that time, had the chance to handle and study many high-grade pieces, as well as build his own collection. Since 2004 he has made pipes under his own name. This charming Blowfish was crafted in 2011 and is a testament to his growth as an artisan. The grain orientation is lovely; yielding textured birdseye on either sandblasted flank, and the smooth sections are replete with tight cross grain. The shape is natural in either hand and the substantial tenon is perfectly fitted into a brass-reinforced mortise. The stem work is top-notch, with a comfortable bite and gently-rounded button edges.
