German Estates: Rainer Barbi Partially Sandblasted Bent Dublin (BA) (VK) (2007)
Product Number: 004-005-4628
A lovely, smaller sort of bent Dublin from late German master Ranier Barbi, this piece is evocative of the 70's work of Danish pipemaker Preben Holm. Ring-grain climbs up the walls of the bowl to bloom into craggy plateau at the rim, offering a heavy dose of texture as well as an organic aesthetic. Emphasizing the bowl's dramatic height, Barbi juxtaposes it against a flattened oval shank, and then finishes with a low profile saddle stem. Condition on this piece is quite good, with just a little bit of darkening to its rim.
