German Estates: Rainer Barbi Smooth Blowfish with Desert Ironwood (B) (PH) (2004)

Product Number: 004-005-4831

One of the most revered carvers in German pipemaking, the late Rainer Barbi's work is highly sought after, and not frequently found on the estate market. This Blowfish, then, with its sweeping, gracile form, is a rather rare find. While its firm lines, rounded, asymmetrical bowl, tucked transition, and sweeping shank contribute to the overall form, it is the details that make the piece stand out. The shank is accented in rare desert ironwood, completing quite an attractive piece from the German master.
