German Estates: Julian Schäffer (Juls) Smooth Tulip Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-005-4865

Juls pipes were made by Julian Schäffer from 1982 to the '90s when Julian decided to stop making pipes. Having worked with Hans "Former" Nielsen and Rainer Barbi, Schäffer was influenced greatly by the Danish modern approach to pipemaking. Seen here is a Tulip from the German carver — the overall form greatly resembling that of a Danish-style bent Billiard, but with the rim neatly concave at the flanks for an overtly floral aesthetic. The lines here are smooth and soft, the shaping and bit work all revealing a high level of care and attention, and the grain is no slouch either.
