German Estates: Joura Smooth Freehand Bent Brandy (4)

Product Number: 004-005-5006

While Brandies are a particular specialty of Karlheinz Joura, its unusual to see one with such a pronounced, softly ridged waistline, such as the one offered here. The design adds additional interest to this already flowing shape by defining upper and lower regions of the bowl, similar to a Bulldog or Rhodesian, but of course here softly contoured. The cheeking of the bowl is in expected Joura style, maintaining the bowl's shapeliness even while the tall transition swoops up the near side and down across the heel along the underside. Crisp ridgelines accompany the more industrial aesthetic at the outside lower line of the shank, and the grain, as is always the case in Joura pipes, is spectacular.
