German Estates: Rainer Barbi Sandblasted Bent Apple (099) (CB) (1987-1992)
Product Number: 004-005-5086
Considered a beloved staple of German pipe making and artisan pipe making in general, Rainer Barbi fashioned quality pipes until his passing in 2011, and developed a unique aesthetic that often utilized flowing curves and subtle lines. His style consisted primarily of classic, Danish-style shapes, flowing numbers with loads of supple, organic charm. Here, however, Barbi opted to craft a pipe that's noticeably more compact and pocket-friendly compared to past estate examples we've encountered. This bent Apple, fashioned some time between 1987 and 1992, features a squat, petite bulb of a bowl paired to a trim shank and elegantly curved mouthpiece. Rainer has treated the stummel to a rich, deeply textured sandblast and stained it an earthy brown tone for a charming, traditional aesthetic.- Jeffery Sitts
