German Estates: Rainer Barbi Smooth Bent Brandy

Product Number: 004-005-5192

A plump, voluptuous piece by the late German carver Rainer Barbi, this piece displays some Danish design cues. An already full-bodied pipe, this bent Brandy expands upon the form's characteristic low mass and gradual taper to the rim by imbuing it with a little extra briar. Nearly palm filling, the supple, gently rounded bowl is paired to a far more slender and gestural upward curl of shank-and-stem arrangement. A trim black accent band along the shank is colored to match the lightly downturned stem, with a hardwood accent braced in between for an additional organic aesthetic. The stummel wears a warm auburn stain, highlighting the fiery licks of flame ascending from the heel.
