German Estates: Hasso Baudis Smooth Bent Dublin (Q) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-005-6364
Hasso Baudis was held in quite high esteem by Rainer Barbi, though he only made pipes briefly, and it is estimated he made less than 2,000 in his career. Finding one as an estate is therefore quite the rare event. This trumpeting, gracefully bent Dublin is one of those, dressed in a warm stain and striking a fairly jaunty profile overall. The hearty bowl flares into a long, oval-shaped rim from a paneled heel, allowing it to sit sturdily, its robust disposition dominating the fare more slender shank and gently downturned stem. Dressed in an auburn contrast stain, the briar's grain orientation is stunning here. A bevy of gorgeous birdseye swathes the rim, while a consistent, tight-knit display of flame grain can be seen on all flanks. Adding further enticement is a brindled vulcanite stem of like colors.
