Leveraging his background as an architect and his affinity for woodworking, Tom Richard crafts refined pieces such as this Apple. Up front, a plump, full-bodied bowl stands atop a wide heel and grows supple walls that take on an arcing taper to the rim, rounding out the chamber's frame and offering a comfortable in-hand presence. A wide transition follows from the bowl and marks the start of a trim shank that tapers into the shoulders of a striking cumberland saddle stem. The mouthpiece's rustic complexion pairs beautifully with the crisp, earth-toned sandblast dressing the stummel.
