About This Pipe
Vauen began in 1848 when Karl Ellenberger and Carl August Ziener founded Germany's first pipe manufacturing company in Nuremberg. Upon merging with another factory in 1901, the company officially became the Vereinigte Pfeifenfabriken in Nuremberg ("United Pipe Factories in Nuremberg") — abbreviated to "Vauen" from the German letters "V" (vau) and "N" (en). Considered the progenitor of the 9mm filter, Vauen achieved such success with their Dr. Perl filters that, to this day, the overwhelming majority of pipes sold in Germany are made to accommodate 9mm filters. The legendary German marque's style varies greatly across an enormous portfolio, ranging from more traditional designs and color palettes to shapes and finishes with more modern appeal.
