Larger and more robust than the '338', the '339' is also given a less compact, stove pipe shaping in the bowl and transition. Where the two are similar, however, is in their very thick shanks, which shouldn't come as a surprise as it is signature Peterson, and the fact that the two shapes are somewhat of a rarity--especially the 'XL339', the only other example which came to us in the "Supreme" series. But comparisons and infrequent visits aside, this certainly is a lovely pipe, not just in shape, or gilded accents, which is obvious; the grain is splendid, perfect, spot on.in a word, ideal. No wonder they deemed it 'Straight Grain'.
