Irish Estates: Peterson St. Patrick's Day 2020 (304) (Fishtail) (Unsmoked)
Product Number: 004-004-8643
The "304" shares both style and history with the "306": Both designs were introduced to Peterson's shape chart in 1992 and were the first new System pipes since the "301," "302," and "303" were featured in the 1978 catalog. The "304" and "306" also boast flattened heels, allowing them to sit upright while still offering the comfortable posture of a bent pipe. While most Peterson shapes change numbers when featured outside the System line, these two flat-bottomed forms remain constant across series. Presented here is the "304," being a touch smaller than the "306," catering to pipesmokers' personal preferences.
Alongside the Sherlock Holmes Collection and annual Christmas and Pipe of the Year lines, Peterson's perennial St. Patrick's Day series is one of the marque's most collectible offerings, marked by a color palette and aesthetic unique to the specific year, yet always with a distinctly Irish motif. The 2020 edition celebrates the limited line's 23rd consecutive release, and this year's pipes feature Peterson's signature emerald stain covering an extra-craggy sandblast — thanks to the Sallynoggin factory's updated, artisanal sandblasting set-up — and paired to a bright nickel army mount. This is a pipe that appreciates Peterson's heritage and esteemed quality, adding modern finishing techniques to the firm's iconic, timeless shaping style.-Truett Smith
