Irish Estates: Peterson Killarney Ebony (999) (Fishtail) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-004-10355
Though stamped "999," this pipe actually represents the "03" shape. Peterson's "03" bent Apple maintains the extra-stout shank and robust transition that combine to define the Peterson aesthetic, while trading the Irish marque's typically tubular bowl style with the rounded form of a classic Apple. The plumpness of the bowl translates well to the hearty transition and shank, lending the composition a tight-knit, muscular aesthetic. It's one of the marque's most charming, well-known shapes, and it's easy to see why — whether hanging from the jaw or filling the palm, it's a versatile smoker that seamlessly marries traditional appeal with Peterson's recognizable personality.
Like many of Peterson's lines, the Killarney takes its name from an Irish town — in this case, one located in the southwest. Introduced in 1949, the standard Killarney finish features a vivid, ruby stain, over which a lacquer finish is applied for added protection and a higher sheen. Here, however, the Ebony rendition trades that burnt umber hue for a glossy, jet-black color palette. Fitted with twin rings of nickel, the Killarney Ebony boasts a formal, elegant appeal, aligning with the black-and-chrome motif of the classy dress pipe aesthetic.
