Italian Estates: Radice Clear Bent Billiard with Bamboo (OP) (2009)

Product Number: 004-006-8419

The Radices' use of bamboo is rather unusual within the context of the Italian school. Not so much because they use it, as while certainly rarer amongst Italian pipemakers than the Danish or Japanese, it isn't too uncommon, but rather because they affix it to the shank, with the mortise/tenon junction at the far end. While this is the same way things are typically arranged by pipemakers from every other corner of the earth, it is a rare feature amongst Italian artisans, who as a rule permanently join stem and bamboo, placing the tenon and mortise between bamboo and shank instead.
