Italian Estates: Capitello Gotico Carved Bent Billiard (Two Column)

Product Number: 004-006-9505

This pipe maker seems to want to start his own branch of the Italian school, because there really is no lineage I can think of to trace it to - perhaps the Pesaro, only because of their whimsically "free" approach to shaping, but even then there is a documented history of stylization to draw from. Here, its almost like the artisan made a much firmer, more angled version of Savinelli's iconic "413". Regardless, the shape works, and does so beautifully with the addition of the "peeling" wax rustication - a feature sometimes used in brands like Radice - giving it the appearance of the ruins of the Puye Cliff Dwellings.
