Italian Estates: Rinaldo Triade Bent Egg (SL-3) (YYYY)
Product Number: 004-006-9591
The out-and-out smooth and voluptuously curvaceous form of this bent Egg lends to the exceptionally noteworthy way it rests in hand. Simply indulgent to the brink of sinful, this piece is what's known as a true "comfort pipe", for sure. The shape definitely exudes the curious gesturing of the Pesaro school, very clearly expressed in the sinuously re-curved style of shank and stem. Visually the stylistic flourish is quite attractive, but had Rinaldo paired it to a straight up-and-down, traditional Billiard bowl, it wouldn't have worked anywhere near as well as it does here, sporting a full, flowing curve to its underside and an eager forward motion to its posture. The grain is plenty fair as well, the highest in the "Y" count and actually one grade away from breaking through to "Fiammata Odessea".
