Italian Estates: Tom Spanu Smooth Bent Dublin (F2) (1999)
Product Number: 004-006-12602
Tom Spanu is a particularly unique artisan in that he crafts each of his pieces entirely by hand, using only carving tools, none of which are powered. This bent Dublin is an especially fine offering, with lovely grain orientation: both rim and heel of the thick-walled bowl are freckled with nothing but birdseye, and all sides of the bowl are adorned with nothing but flowing grain. The shape is a satisfying one to hold, and the proportions and dramatic bend to the stem should make for a decent jaw-hanger, albeit not for those with weak chompers.
