Savinelli's Roley designs may seem pretty eccentric, but they actually nod to a much older style of pipe — particularly the vest pocket pipe from decades past. By keeping the stummel all one piece (i.e. no obvious shank and transition) and pinching the bowl to create an oval in the cross-section, one can safely tuck this briar into their vest pocket, without worrying about creating unsightly seams. What's more, the stem can swivel 180deg to align with the bowl itself, making it a great choice for those who travel.
