This is a shape that, apparently, Shane fell in love with the first time he saw it. Davide must have thought pretty highly of it too, since the first example Shane saw of it was in fact a pipe Davide was smoking himself. Shane described this as a great marriage of Pot and Lovat, and of some of the most charming aspects of both the Danish shaping tradition and more recent American turns in style; I would agree. In this one's case, it's also serving as a canvas for great flame grain and not-at-all-shabby birdseye.
