Italian Estates: Giotto Straight Grain Smooth Billiard (2)
Product Number: 004-006-22140
Savinelli did have a series named "Giotto" after the Florentine artist Giotto di Bondone. However, this pipe features neither the characteristic beadline below the rim, nor any Savinelli stamping. It stands to reason, then, that this piece is perhaps an Al Pascià offering — as the Italian workshop did feature "Giotto" as one of their seven collections within their house label brand. I'm unfamiliar with any other pipemaker using a "Giotto" stamp, so Al Pascià is a fairly safe bet. Regardless, this is a fine take on the Italian Billiard, offering plenty of chamber and some impressive flame grain.-Truett Smith
